This little sucker is emerging from this aspen root, exposed along a deer track. The root is approx 2" in diameter.......amazing considering that it is about 30-35 metres from the parent tree, and probably 15 metres uphill from it at an angle of approx 45 degrees. If you look along the line, you can see another little sucker, although it is a green colour........it clearly arises from the same root.
