Edinburgh Zoo are looking after 150 aspen clones for us from all around Scotland, and have set aside half of a poly tunnel to help us. This little aspen (actually two plants) is the first to be produced........the tunnel is filling up quickly at the moment with material from all around the country. Today the Highland Perthshire and Argyll clones were delivered. The staff at the zoo are very enthusiastic about this venture, and it is an excellent and exciting partnership for Scottish Native Woods. The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) are also supporting the beaver re-introduction in Knapdale, whose favoured tree species is.........the aspen.
Off course, the real reason we went to Edinburgh was to see the penguins........see below.
