If you look to the right of the waterfall here, you can pick out a small group of aspen. I have looked at the waterfall on many occasions, and this is the first time I have seen the aspens there. There is an older tree on the other side of the falls (not visible here)......maybe they have just appeared from outer space!!
probably the reason why they have not been spotted before is that these particulat stems have a very smooth grey ash-like bark, and would be very difficult to distinguish as aspen from afer in the winter months.
