A few aspen flower most years across the country, but they are few and far between. The last really good flowering year was 1996, and 1976 before that, both after drought summers which will have severely stressed the trees. Whether it is this stress or an accumulation of high temperatures/ lots of sunshine is unknown.
Only a very small number have flowered this year.
