The tree in the centre here is a planted aspen, 12-15 years old, near Blairgowrie. Aspen outgrows almost all other broadleaves at this age, you can see it is much bigger than the oak and ash around it. This is quite normal in young farm plantations like this. You can see all the suckers here as well. While this tree is obviously planted, it is not always quite so easy to determine this, because rapidly growing trees like this quickly look mature.
